Ribbit! Ribbit! I love frogs! So naturally I would be drawn to a website with a name that sounds very much like one of those cute, little, slimy creatures.

So what is skribit and why am I using it?

Ever have those moments where you just want to say something; have your voice heard? I do all the time. But at the same time, I have those moments when nothing brilliant comes out of my mouth or the tips of my finger tips. Sometimes, I want to hear what everyone else is thinking about and what they are interested in. That's how I learn and expand my world.

This is where skribit comes in. If you glance down the right-hand column of this blog a bit, you will find my skribit box. It's where you can ask me a question or make a suggestion for an interesting topic and I will blog about it.

I eat sushi all the time. I violate at least one of these sushi don'ts. I mix my wasabi in my soy sauce. I like the kick it gives the soy sauce. What about you? Which ones do you violate?

My Favorite Things: You Know What They Say? Soft Feet...

...soft ??? Not really sure what they say exactly but this little item is a MUST HAVE! If you are like me, you can't always afford to indulge in one of life's little pleasures, a pedicure. But, I have discovered the next best thing - the pumi bar. I love this little tool. Its so fast and easy to use. I try, key word here is "try" to use this on my feet everyday while I am in the shower. Surprisingly, if used regularly, my feet are soft and I have $30 extra dollars to spend on something else.

Hmmm...what can I buy next?

Review of Latest Book Read...

Shortly before Christmas I posted that I was going to read "A Currier and Ives Christmas." And I did. Overall, it was a pleasant read especially for the Christmas holiday season. Lots of snow!!! BRRRR!

The first story, The Snow Storm by Lynn A Coleman reminded me of that saying, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach." Michael is a widower raising two young sons by himself on a farm. Its the middle of winter a few days before Christmas and a blizzard is coming in quickly. He happens upon a young woman passed out in the storm and takes her home, saving her life. In the end, she "saves" his life from loneliness and poor cooking by brightening up their home and cooking meals the man and his two sons haven't tasted in some time. When the blizzard is over, he doesn't want her to leave...is it love at first sight or is it just her cooking?

The second story is Image of Love by JoAnn A Grote. Lane moves to a new town with his younger brother in tow. He hopes this is a fresh start and possibly the place God has placed his future wife. It just so happens, the family in town that invites them in and makes them a part of their lives has someone who just might fit that bill. She however does not want to give up grieving a lost love and let Lane in to her heart. Lane has his work cut out for him.

The third story, Dreams and Secrets by DiAnn Mills was a tale of two childhood friends destined to be together, but lifelong trials have made the obvious, not so obvious. Thad has been in love with Emma Leigh his whole life. His own tragic circumstances and Emma Leigh's family trials have placed doubts in his mind as to whether or not he really should pursue his dreams.

The final story, Circle of Blessings by Deborah Raney is about an unlikely pair falling into likely love. A young university student falling in love with the young college professor who has a past. Its the circle of blessings one family bestows on someone every year, that come full circle and bring this unlikely couple together at Christmas.

If you are looking for some pleasant, heartfelt short stories to read by the fire during your holiday season...pick this book up and dive into the lithograph prints like Mary Poppins and imagine a world blanketed in snow and love and dreams come true.

A Currier and Ives Christmas

A few days ago, I was hunting around my mother's house looking for a book to read. I was in a specific reading mood and nothing I found satisfied my "taste buds." I made my way out into the garage where my mother had a plastic bin of books she had taken off her bookshelf when they moved into the house.

Digging through the books, I came across A Currier and Ives Christmas: Four Stories of Love Come to Life from the Canvas of Classic Christmas Art. Since its the Christmas season, I thought I would go ahead and read it.

The compilation of short stories are written by Lynn A Coleman, JoAnn A Grote, DiAnn Mills, and Deborah Raney.

Later that night, I got in bed and opened the book to the first page of the first story. I discovered it was autographed by the author, Lynn A Coleman and addressed to my grandmother, Carolyn. Before beginning to read, I lay in bed remembering my grandmother. She passed away last summer unexpectedly. I was unable to see her before she died. Christmas just won't ever be the same without her. For as long as I can remember, she has spent a few weeks with us every Christmas. She and I baked Christmas cookies, went shopping and had lots of laughs. The memories painted themselves in my mind just like the lithographic prints produced by Currier and Ives in the 1800s.

Rachel Hauck's Facebook Birthday Party...

Tonight, award-winning, best-selling author, Rachel Hauck hosted a Facebook birthday party for her birthday on her Fan Page. Attendees posted comments on the wall and "chatted" about their best and worst birthday party memories, favorite Christmas movie and song, answered trivia questions about Rachel and won prizes. Rachel gave away copies of her books, gift cards, CDs by Sara Evans, country music recording artist and co-author with Rachel on her upcoming book, The Sweet by and By. It was a really cool and innovative idea!


All of Rachel Hauck's books are a must-read. She writes the everyday life of her characters and mirrors so well life's ups and downs that we all face each day. At times you want to laugh and cry with each character in their circumstance. And even in the character's chaos, Rachel hits home with just the right truth about life that makes you realize that the ups AND the downs are all worth living.

I have read all her books multiple times and am torn as to which one is my all-time favorite. I really like Georgia on her Mind and Love Starts with Elle, a RITA award finalist.


Oh, and did i mention I know Rachel personally! She is one of my biggest heroes in life! ;-)
